William "Bill" Bryson, 92

Passed 9/2/20 Pasadena, Maryland

"Dad loved and was so proud of his children, grandchildren and his beloved partner of 38 years, Patricia. He kept saying he needed a needle and thread to sew on the buttons he kept popping. He loved his dog Jake, camping, hiking, hoagies, birch beer, angel food cake with strawberries and lots of whipped cream, ice cream and chocolate cookies…homemade only! His car automatically turned into any donut shop.

He was kind and popular with the kids in the neighborhood who lovingly called him Mr. Bill. When those kids grew up he hosted a Tuesday night dinner for them for years since most of them were broke college kids. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years, and with other leaders, enjoyed taking his troop camping and biking along the C&O Canal in Western Maryland.

He hiked the Appalachian Trail at age 70 after retiring. Dad was a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force (1946-1966) and he was stationed in Berlin during the Berlin Airlift. He retired as a civilian Senior Claims Adjuster for the Department of the Army in 1998…interestingly enough, he retired from the same base he was sworn in at in 1946.

Dad caught Covid in the rehab center he was in recovering from a falling incident. He never recovered from the damage the virus inflicted on his lungs. We were so blessed to have had my Daddy for so many years and miss him so much. He was such a light to all of us and he brought a lot of light into other people’s lives. 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛"
